Bryan Konefsky VideosYe Dirty Olde Lab Shoppe presents: The "Personal Cinema" of Bryan Konefsky Friday November 29th Doors open 8:00-program begins at 9:00 Attention loyal Lab followers and other curious parties: Your friends at the Lab Lecture Series have created a fabulous new sub-series. Within this lovely construct, we will bring the film and video work from a cast of artists and filmmakers who hail from points across the country. The inaugural presentation spotlights the moving-picture-stylings of Bryan Konefsky, a filmmaker and educator from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Konefsky will be on hand to screen and discuss a selection of his short films, which showcase a quirky, humorous approach to issues such as identity, community and maleness. ABOUT BRYAN KONEFSKY: Bryan Konefsky, his spouse, and their three lovely dogs live in Albuquerque, New Mexico (a place Bryan refers to as the Sandbox). There, Bryan teaches film/video history and production courses through the Media Arts Department at the University of New Mexico. Bryan is also a board member of Basement Films (a regional film cooperative), a member of the Na-Da performance group and serves on the board of Directors of AC2 (a not-for-profit exhibition space). In the Sandbox Bryan creates odd, little movies and video installations that are often referred to as "personal cinema." Konefsky's work has been screened/exhibited at venues such as Artcite (Windsor, Ontario), the Long Beach Museum (L.A.), the AFI Film Festival (L.A.), L.A.C.E. (L.A.), the Dallas Video Festival (Texas), the Knitting Factory (NYC), and the Kitchen (NYC).. Bryan also seems to spend a fair amount of time at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Alberta, Canada… though, no one is really sure why. Oh, he says "hi," and would really like to hear from you.
